THE POND

The JSC Pond was the first swoop pond built in South Africa in 2006. Three years later we are proud to claim it as the biggest swoop pond in South Africa, and will offer the best experience for swooping in the country.

The primary focus has always been on the safety of the competitors, and with that in mind the courses were designed that all turns would be made over water and to ensure high performance landings are as safe as they can possibly be.

Situated at almost 5000 ft above sea level, the diamond shaped swoop pond measuring 105m long x 42m wide x 1.5m deep is perfect for standard swooping as well as free style.

Our distance runoff from the edge of the pond to the edge of the runoff at the far end comes to 220m with a lane of grass that goes all the way to the end of the runoff. Our accuracy zone is made safe by a sand pit that is 12m wide and 40m long. The speed course runs off to the side of the pond at a 75° angle with over 100m of clear ground for runoff.

With the high altitude that the pond is situated at and the amount of open ground, it makes for one of the best venues to see major records broken.
